Meet Mrs. Dries

MEET MRS. DRIES

              THE EARLY YEARSpic

I was born and raised in a small town near Reading, Pennsylvania. I have two sisters, Ann and Jean.  Both of them are older which made me the baby of the family.  My father worked as an electrician and my mother worked as an elementary school nurse.  Being in the same school as my mom was good and bad.  If I was sick, she was right there to take care of me.  That was the good part.  If my teacher's had something to tell my mom about me, she was right there.  Sometimes that was the bad part.

school THE SCHOOL YEARS

I attended a high school in the town of Shillington.  Our high school mascot was the mustang.  In high school I participated in lots of activities including band.  I was part of a group of people called the honor guard.  We paraded in front of the band behind the majorettes. The girls in this group carried flags and rifles (not real).  We twirled the rifles to a routine that we performed during parades and on the football field during half time. I had a great time at Governor Mifflin High School.

THE COLLEGE YEARSpic

I went to college for four years at Millersville State College ( now known as Millersville University)  When I graduated I had two degrees.  I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and a degree in Library Science.  After my college graduation, I married my husband Fred and moved to Martinsburg, Pa.

When I first started my teaching career, I taught kindergarten at Roaring Spring Elementary School.  In later years, I taught second grade, and fifth grade at Benson Elementary. At Martin Elementary I taught fourth grade and at Roaring Spring Elementary I taught second and third grades.  It was in 1982, that I became the elementary librarian which I still do today.

                        MY FAMILYpic

Today I live in Bedford County with my husband, Fred.  I have a married daughter, Jennifer and a son-in-law Mike. At our house we have one pet living with us.  Bentley is our golden retriever  puppy.
