Meet Mr. Reed

Hello, my name is Mr. Reed and I teach Art for all grades at Spring Cove Middle School.  My hometown is Washington, PA near Pittsburgh. I graduated from Trinity High School and have a degree in graphic design from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

In 1990, I moved here to accept a job as a graphic designer. For 12 1/2 years, I worked as a graphic designer for New Pig Corporation in Tipton. I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a B. S. degree in Art Education in May of 2004.

As a professional art educator, I will strive for my own personal excellence. As an art educator, I will seek my own professional excellence.  I plan to organize my classes in a way that is flexible yet directed.  Nothing is worse than being in a poorly planned class.  The children of today deserve teachers that consider their job a gift to be given rather than a job to be tolerated.

I will strive to encourage students prolific in art to pursue their abilities and to consider working in the field of art.  I want to inspire those not necessarily gifted in art, and show them the benefits of appreciating art and the joy of creating.  I plan to make the 80 minutes I have with each student their best time of their day.

I want to grow in my ability and knowledge of creating art, art history, art criticism and art aesthetics.  When I grow as a teacher, I will be able to deepen and broaden the scope of my subject matter.  It will give me the ability to teach with even greater authority and meaning.

On a personal note, I am married with 2 sons and enjoy fishing, reading, walking and spending time with my family.
