Rules and Regulations

The Rules and Regulations

The Spring Cove Middle School is planning a Ski Club for this school year.  It will be open to all interested 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.  The club will ski the following Friday nights: Jan.7, Jan. 14, Jan. 21, Jan 28, weather permitting.

Because of the large number of students anticipated and the nature of this activity, any student who does not follow the rules listed below will be dismissed from Ski Club with NO REFUND GIVEN.  Before signing this form, it is VERY IMPORTANT that both students and parents understand that no "chances" will be given.  You disobey the rules ONE TIME and you are out!

The same rules and regulations that apply to students during the regular school day are in effect for Ski Club.  Each student was given a planner at the beginning of the school year that includes these rules and regulations.

Each student will be assigned a seat on a bus to and from the resort. He/she must sit in the assigned seat on the assigned bus for each trip. This makes taking attendance and keeping track of students much easier.

The bus will leave the middle school promptly at 2:40. Any student not on the bus on time will be left at the school.

The buses will leave Blue Knob promptly at 7:45.  Students should report to the lodge by 7:30 if they have their own equipment, 7:15 if they must return rental equipment. Any student not on the bus at 7:45 and requires somebody to go looking for them will lose their ski club privileges.

In the past, one of the most frequent problems has been students not reporting to the buses at the designated time to leave the resort. It is not fair to the rest of the club to sit and wait for people who are not on time.

The bus should arrive back at the Middle School at 8:30. Each student is responsible for getting a ride home from the Middle School. Parents, please  make certain that someone is at the Middle School promptly at 8:30 to pick up your child. There have been times in the past when we had to wait with students until 9:45.

All students must ride the bus back to the Middle School unless their parents are at the resort in person to pick them up. Parents must speak to one of the Ski Club Advisors and sign a consent paper before taking their child from the resort.

All students are responsible for items they bring to Ski Club. There is an item check area where students can rent a basket to keep personal items. The cost is minimal, $2 or $3 dollars and several students can share a basket. We have had items stolen in the past and strongly recommend that students secure personal items.

If a student chooses to bring his/her own equipment, he/she is responsible for getting it on and off the equipment truck at the school and at Blue Knob. We strongly recommend that all equipment be locked or secured when not being used at the resort.

Students should have the appropriate clothing. The temperature at Blue Knob is at least 10-15 degrees colder than locally and the wind is always blowing. Skiers need to have hats that cover their ears, gloves, and insulated water-resistant pants and coats.

Lessons are available for all levels of skiing ability. If you have never skied or ridden a snowboard we strongly recommend taking lessons. Class size will be a minimum of four students. Classes will be combined if the minimum number is not attained. Refunds will not be given for missed lessons.

Students who rent equipment are responsible for returning it to the rental shop and having it checked in after each session. Students will be charged for rental equipment not returned.

This year Blue Knob has a new policy for snowboard renters. The bottom line is that if anything happens to the snowboard, the renter will be charged $500.00.

The Spring Cove School District, the Spring Cove Ski Club or its advisors, and Blue Knob are not responsible for personal injury, damage to any participant’s personal property or equipment, and/or lost or stolen personal items or items rented to you by Blue Knob.

Only Blue Knob management has the right to cancel sessions.

Because of the limited amount of supervision in the lodge area, students will be encouraged to spend their time on the slopes skiing or snowboarding.

Remember the future of this Ski Club is up to you, so let’s police our ranks together!
