Meet Mrs. Fichtner
Hello, my name is Laurie Fichtner. I am a gifted support teacher working at all the district buildings.
I have been teaching for sixteen years. In May of 1993 I graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a dual degree in elementary and early childhood education. Since my desire was to eventually be a gifted support teacher, I have taken 27 graduate courses through Frostburg State University, Chapman University, and Millersville University.
This is my eleventh year of teaching for Spring Cove.
Previously, I taught fourth grade for two years at St. Thomas School in Bedford. The following year, I taught with Mrs. Over in her kindergarten class at Roaring Spring Elementary and long-term substituted for the elementary gifted support teacher here at Spring Cove. Then, I left Spring Cove when I was offered a permanent position at South Penn Elementary in the Allegheny Public School System. I taught fourth grade for three years at South Penn Elementary, Cumberland, MD. Then, I was offered the elementary gifted support position here at Spring Cove.
I live with my husband, Rob, and sons, Tanner and Trent. Tanner is in sixth grade this year. Trent turned four this summer.
