Hootin’-Tootin’ Homework
Homework is assigned because it is useful in reinforcing what has been learned in class, prepares students for upcoming lessons, teaches responsibility, and helps students to develop positive study habits.
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights. Assignments should take students no more than 15 minutes to complete. Spelling tests will be given each Friday, unless noted otherwise. The following is an outline of the assignments your child can expect each night.
Monday: Practice spelling words
Tuesday: Vocabulary notebook, practice spelling words
Wednesday: Reading worksheet
Thursday: Math worksheet
*On the days your child participates in a Guided Reading group, he/she will have a book to read to you that has already been introduced and read during group time.
We expect homework to be neat and handed in on time. Any incomplete homework will be finished during recess time. A parent can reinforce this by checking the child’s binder nightly. If there is a reason why your child is not able to finish homework, please send a note to your child's teacher on the day the homework is due, stating the reason why it was not completed. Also, please inform the teacher of any difficulty that is noticed as the child is completing the assignment.
