Homework Policy

Why I assign homework :

Homework is assigned to reinforce what has been taught in class or to prepare for an upcoming test.  Homework also teaches responsibility and helps develop positive study habits.

When homework will be assigned :

Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights.  It will not be assigned on Fridays unless there is an upcoming test to study for.  Children should be spending an average of 40 minutes a night on school work.  If your child is regularly having difficulty completing their work in this amount of time, please contact me. Homework may include a written assignment, studying spelling words, rereading their weekly story, going over concepts taught in class that day, or reading a book.

Student’s homework responsibilities :

Students are expected to do their best.  I expect homework to be neat and handed in on time.  Assignments will be written in their assignment books each day.  If the assignment is not handed in on time, the student will miss recess to work on it.  The completed assignment must be turned in the next day or zero credit will be given.

Parent’s responsibilities :

You play an important part in your child’s success at school.  The following are a few helpful tips:

·       Find a quiet place for your child to study.

·       Check and sign the assignment book daily.

·       Encourage your child to show you his/her completed homework.
