Reading

  Each week we cover a story.  Your student’s vocabulary book comes home the first day of the week and meaningful sentences need to be written using the words.  More than one word may be used in a sentence.  Your child should practice saying the words, know the meanings, and be able to read the sentences the next day at school.  During the week we read the story several times and act it out to foster comprehension.  We also focus on specific reading and English skills.  Your child takes a reading test every Friday, or last day of the week.
