The Department of Health requires vision screening tests to be given annually.
All students are required to be screened for Far Visual Acuity and Near Visual Acuity.
1st grade students and new students not previously screened are required to be screened for 3 additional vision tests: Convex Lens Test for excessive hyperopia (farsightedness), Color Vision Test for color discrimination, and Stereo/Depth Perception Test for binocularity (use of both eyes) and strabismus (both eyes cannot be directed to the same object).
