The PA School Code requires all children entering school for the
first time
(Kindergarten/first grade) and students in sixth and eleventh grades to have a physical examination. This physical examination can be done by your family doctor or done by the school doctor during the coming school year.
Most students entering 10th or 11th grade are visiting their physicians to obtain physicals for driving permits, work permits, and sports physicals. The 11th grade mandated school physical can be completed at this time.
A physical exam is considered current and is accepted if it is dated Sept. of last year until this present school year until October 1st of this year.
For example: The
current school year is Sept. 2009, so the physical exam must be dated between Sept. 2008-Oct. 1, 2009.
