Please discuss with your child's doctor the latest 2 school immunization recommendations that will soon be requirements:
1. Beginning in the 2009-2010 school year, children in 7th grade will be required to have 2 vaccines called
Tdap
(Tetanus, diptheria, acellular pertussis) and
MCV (
Meningococcal ConjugateVaccine)
2. Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, children in ALL grades will be required to have a second dose of varicella (chickenpox) vaccine or a documented history of the disease.
**Reminder: The school nurse will need a written copy of ALL of your child's vaccines to update his/her school health record.
Immunization requirements mandated by the Dept. of Health for school students:
DPT (Diphtheria, Pertussis, and Tetanus)-proof of 3 properly spaced doses for all students. A 4th dose is required on or after the 4th birthday for students K-11th grade students, only.
MMR (Measles, Mumps Rubella)-proof of 2 properly spaced doses for all students with the first dose being given on or after the first birthday.
Hepatitis B-proof of 3 properly spaced doses for all students with the 3rd dose being given at 6 months of age or older.
Polio-proof of 3 properly spaced doses for all students.
Varicella (Chicken Pox)-documented date or age of disease or proof of 1 dose for all students with the dose being given on or after the first birthday. Students 13 years of age or older not previously immunized should receive 2 properly spaced doses.
