JANUARY CLASSROOM TIMES
Reading/Writing – *Thank you for your continued support of checking your child’s guided reading homework binder each day. If the assignment sheet is not signed and the circled comprehension questions are not answered, it is counted as a missed homework assignment. I really appreciate all of your help with this!
Spelling
–
We will be spelling words with the following emphasis on each week:
January 5th – 9th Lesson 17 Long i (ie, igh, i)
January 12th – 16th Lesson 18 Long o (oa, oe, ow)
January 19th – 23rd Lesson 19 Dipthongs (oi, oy)
January 26th – 30th Lesson 20 Dipthongs (ou, ow)
English
–
We will be focusing on capitalization, punctuation, complete sentences, verbs, and adverbs.
Math
– – We will be completing Chapters 12 and 13, which involves adding money to $1.00. Then, we will be starting Chapter 14, which involves telling time to the minute intervals.
Science
– We will continue to work on our animal unit. Your child will be choosing an animal to research and complete an animal report. Then, I will compile all of the animal reports and put them on a powerpoint presentation and post them to my webpage.
Social Studies
– We will finish learning about Unit 2 called “The World Around Us.”
Special Events
*There will be no school on Thursday, January 1st and Friday, January 2nd due to celebrating New Year’s Day!
*Our January Scholastic book order is due on Friday, January 23rd. Please make the checks payable to me because I will just make one check to Scholastic.

There will be no school on Monday, January 19th, due to celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
*The end of the second nine-week period is on Tuesday, January 20th. The second nine-week report cards go home on Tuesday, January 27th.
*The January Pizza Hut Book-It papers are due Friday, January 30th. Thank you for your continued support of encouraging, helping, and listening to your child read.
