When will your child have art class?
Art classes are on a 6 day rotation. Please see the schedule section of the website to find your child's art day. The class runs 40 minutes for grades 1-5 and 30 minutes for kindergarten.
How should my child dress for art class?
It is important that your child wear old clothes to art class or bring a paint shirt to put over their clothing during class. Many of the materials we use are messy and can stain. Accidents can happen and it is good to be prepared by wearing the apporpriate clothing.
How many art projects will my child complete in art class and what will they be learning?
Your child will create 6-12 projects during the year. Most art projects will take 2-6 class periods to complete. Students will learn the elements and principles of art and design through drawing, painting, fibers, and sculpture. Students will also be exposed to art history and art from other cultures.
Will my child have a piece of art in the elementary art show?
Throughout the year I collect one piece of work from every student that is displayed during the art show. Check the news and events section of this website for art show dates and times. Hope to see you there!
