Meet Miss Biddle

HELLO,
Nice to Meet You!

pic

Meet Miss Biddle:  I was born in the Spring Cove School District, attended elementary school at Roaring Spring Elementary, graduated from Central High School and still reside in the Cove area today.  I graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, and continued to take courses from different colleges receiving my Master's Equivalency in elementary education.  After graduation, I was hired by the Spring Cove School District as a kindergarten teacher at Roaring Spring Elementary and then transferred to East Freedom Elementary where I taught second grade for a few years and then settled into first grade, where I still am today.

Teaching in the Spring Cove School District is enjoyable because of the innovative curriculum and the awesome faculty!

The most important responsibility of an educator is to act as a positive role model and to help them feel good about themselves. Teachers encourage individual growth and cooperative learning, which all build a more well-rounded student. It is extremely important to provide a variety of learning opportunities, which allows the learning style of each child to be met. Children can feel sincerity through your attitude and actions, which enhances their learning and willingness to learn.

A child should be given educational opportunities, a challenging curriculum and a positive learning atmosphere. The school and community educate children, which provide students with the ability to adapt to their environment and society. As a teacher, I am educating children for life!

Letter to Parents

Congratulations!  You are the parent of a first grader here at East Freedom Elementary School.  You will be absolutely amazed at how much your child will grow this year.  Most likely, your child has had the seeds of reading and writing planted in kindergarten, and during first grade, these seeds will grow and blossom, making your child an accomplished reader and writer!  You will see changes in your child's thinking as her or she will become familiar with abstract concepts and symbols.  The change will be dramatic!  Just compare a tiny seed to a full-grown flower.  That is the type of growth you will see this year!!

WAYS TO HELP YOUR CHILD BLOOM

As you probably have realized, the most beautiful flowers usually have the best gardener, which is you.  Getting involved in your child's education is the key to a successful school year.  Engage yourself in conversation with your child everyday when they come home from school.  Ask them about their day.  If you don't ask, they probably won't tell.   I will periodically send home newsletters that will help as a "springboard" for converstation.  Another way to get involved is to check your child's binder that has been provided by the school, EVERY evening.  You will find it packed with schoolwork, homework, projects, flyers, book orders, notices from the office, as well as notes from me.  As daunting as it may be, try to sort through the papers (our new folders thatwe providefor your child should help with organization) and read each one.  Your child should come to school the following day with a fairly empty folder....just homework or notes for me.

Showing your child that we are organized, helps them to become organized too.
