What is an ITS?

An ITS is teacher who specializes in assisting teachers in using technology to improve teaching, learning and the completion of administrative tasks.

How is the role of an ITS different from the roles of Technology Administator and Technology Specialist?
As a certified teacher, I am able to work with teachers and principals in regard to curriculum issues.  As a former classroom teacher, I understand many of the challenges of integrating technology in the classroom and can work with teachers to remove barriers that can make the use of technology frustrating.  While I have training and experience in tech support and and in some aspects of technology administration, these are not my areas of expertise.  My primary focus as an ITS is supporting teachers in the integration of technology with their curriculum.

What can an ITS do for you?
I provide training and support for use of computer applications such as PowerGrade, PowerSchool, SchoolNet, Windows, Office, and other programs.  I am available to assist with integrating technology with your existing curriculum and can provide hands on troubleshooting and assistance with class projects.  I can also provide training and support  for use of devices such as digital cameras, scanners, projectors and Palm pilots.  Please submit all support requests through Track It! using the IT HELP DESK link on the district home pageI will receive a copy of all messages sent to tech email.  A complete list of technology resources available to our district teachers can be found on the SCSD Tech Resources web page.

How does a teacher become an ITS?
Teachers certified in any content area can become an ITS by completing an ITS certification program by any PDE approved college or university.  I completed my certification through Penn State's
ITSC program .
