FBLA State Leadership Conference

Fifteen members of the Central High School chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America and the chapter co-advisers, Kassi Leidy and Marian Vergona, attended the 2008 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference March 31-April 2. It was held at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Hershey, PA. Over 3,500 members/advisers were in attendance. 
            During the conference, students competed with representatives from other Pennsylvania chapters for top honors in business-oriented events.   Central High School was proud to have two members place in the top ten in the entire state. Kristy Jackson (Sr.), Roaring Spring, placed 1st in the Spreadsheet Applications event and Nick Hamming (Sr.), Martinsburg, placed 7th in Accounting II.
            Other members who competed at the state conference included: Brandy Wilt, Introduction to Business; Janelle Ayers, Word Processing II; Sarah Ormsby, Introduction to Business Communications; Cody Yingling, Accounting II; Chelsea Cherry and Brittani Weaver, Desktop Publishing Team; Lorena Henry, Accounting I; Rachel Fry, Introduction to Business Communications; Preston Smith, Economics; Stephanie Treece, Computer Applications; and Zach Bumbarger, Devin Miller, and Jordan Huntsman, Entrepreneurship Team.
             Our Chapter also won 6th place honors for Largest Per Capita Donations to the American Trauma Society. Central High School alone contributed $1,818.24 to our state fundraiser.
             The Future Business Leaders of America is a national career and technical student organization whose mission is to bring business and education together working through innovative leadership and career development programs. The 24 members in the Central High School chapter are a part of the Pennsylvania membership of over 13,500 members.
