Frequently Asked Questions

Revised CIPPE Form - May 2010

What is new with Athletic Physicals?

Beginning June 1, 2008, the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) is requiring all member schools to have a comprehensive physical examination for any athlete wishing to participate in interscholastic athletics. The PIAA has always required a pre-participation physical, but beginning with the 2008-09 school year, a new mandatory CIPPE (Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation) form is required for completion.

What is different with the CIPPE vs. the old physical form?

The new CIPPE is valid for the entire school year. Therefore, only one physical examination in needed per year. With the old form (which is no longer valid for athletic physicals) a physical examination was needed prior to the beginning of each sports season.

Where can I get a CIPPE?

The new physical forms are available in the High School Main Office, the Middle School Main Office, the Athletic Office or by using the link above.

Will physical examinations be given at the school for athletes?

Yes.  Beginning in the 2010-11 school year, Dr. Heaton will have two dates avaliable to schedule fall athletes for their physicals.  Students still can have the annual physical performed by their family physician.  Call the school office at 793-2111 to be placed on the physical list.

When should I schedule my child’s examination?

Anytime after June 1. In order to save on co-pays or limit the number of visits to the doctor’s office, it is recommended to obtain the physical at the same time a workers permit physical, drivers test physical or an 11th grade physical is needed.

Who should I call with additional questions?

Please feel free to call Mr. Gojmerac in the athletic office or the school nurse at either the middle school or high school.
