Spring 2008 Adult Computer Courses



Adult Education Course Offerings 
Spring 2008

Classes are held at the Cove Educational Community Center which is located next to the Spring Cove Middle School in Roaring Spring.  Enrollment is open to Spring Cove residents as well as residents of other school districts.  

 

To register, email center@scsd.k12pen.com or call 224-7579 and provide the name of the class or classes along with your name, address, phone number and email address.  The registration fee will be collected on the first night of class (checks payable to SCSD).

 

 Class Participants: click the names of highlighted courses to gain access to course materials.
Login information is provided to course participants during the first class session.

 

PC Basics  - Registation is full.  Please register for the second session of PC Basics on March 25 & 27.
March 4, 6, 6:00-8:00 PM $20.00
This two-session course is for new computer users and for people who find using a computer frustrating. Topics will include: left and right mouse buttons, customizing the desktop, screen savers, creating folders, opening and saving files, accessing the Internet, scanning your computer for harmful programs and files and what to do when things go wrong.

 

Microsoft Word Basic
March 10, 12, 17, 19, 6:00-9:00 PM $45.00
Learn the basics of using word processing software with Microsoft Word 2000. Topics will include: getting started with Word 2000, editing and proofing documents, formatting a document and working with tables.  Participants have the option of purchasing an illustrated workbook with a disk for $22.

 

Internet Security
Tuesday, March 11, 6:00-8:00 PM $10
Is unwanted software and spyware a problem on your computer?  Learn how to protect your computer by installing free software to guard against unwanted programs and how to identify web sites that are known to install unwanted software and files.  Information will also be provided regarding how to identify and remove unwanted software from your computer.

 

Home Networking Basics

Tuesday, March 18, 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00

Learn how to set up a home network to connect two or more computers in your home.  Topics will include sharing a printer, sharing files and setting up a wireless network.

This twelve hour course is for users who want to take their Word 2000 skills beyond the basic level.  Topics will include: adding graphics, creating a web page, merging Word documents, formatting with styles and sharing information with other programs.
Participants will have the option of purchasing an illustrated workbook with a disk for $22.

 

Seniors’ Night Out  
Tuesday, April 1, 6:00-8:00 PM $10
Learn how to surf the Internet to find information about finance, books, travel, health issues and more.  This class is designed for people 50 and over.

 

Microsoft Excel Basic
April 14, 16, 21, 23 6:00-9:00 PM $45.00
Learn the basics of using spreadsheets through this twelve hour course with Microsoft Excel 2000. Topics will include: getting started with Excel 2000, building and editing worksheets, formatting a worksheet, and working with charts.  Participants have the option of purchasing an illustrated workbook with a disk
for $22.


Microsoft Excel Intermediate
April 28, 30, May 5, 7, 6:00-9:00 PM $45
This twelve hour course is for users who want to take their Excel 2000 skills beyond the basic level.  Topics will include: managing workbooks and preparing them for the web, automating worksheet tasks, using lists, analyzing list data, enhancing charts and worksheets and sharing excel files and incorporating web information.
Participants will have the option of purchasing an illustrated workbook with a disk for $22.
