Using Email With Outlook Express Tuesday, March 27, 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00
Use Outlook Express to compose, format, insert pictures and send email. Learn how to create folders to sort and save messages. Information will also be provided regarding how to reduce the amount of unwanted email (spam) and how to protect your computer from dangerous or malicious email content or attachments.
Filing Taxes Online Thursday March 29, 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00 Enjoy the convenience of electronic filing through a secure Internet connection using TurboTax. Benefits include: no software to install, automatic calculations and error checking, up to date with the latest tax laws, get your refund faster (in as few as 10 days), direct deposit, and receive an IRS confirmation that your return has been officially filed. Participants are encouraged to bring all tax information to begin the online filing process. Information entered during class can be saved to continue working at home.
Digital Photography Tuesday, April 3 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00
Learn the basics of taking and saving images using a digital camera. Tips for buying a digital camera and links to useful web sites will also be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras along with any cables and software that came with the camera.
Editing Digital Photos Thursday, April 12, 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00
Learn how to transfer digital photos from a camera to a computer and how to use Microsoft Photodraw to add borders, backgrounds, text and make other enhancements to digital images. This class will also include web sites which can be used to create cards, calendars, t-shirts and other items with digital images. Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital cameras along with any cables and software that came with the camera.
Microsoft Excel Basic April 16, 18, 23, 25, 6:00-9:00 PM $45.00 Learn the basics of using spreadsheets through this twelve hour course with Microsoft Excel 2000. Topics will include: getting started with Excel 2000, building and editing worksheets, formatting a worksheet, and working with charts. Participants will have the option of purchasing an illustrated workbook with a disk for $20.
Internet Cafe for Moms of All Ages Tuesday, April 17 6:00-8:00 PM $10.00 Internet Café is a place for moms to come together online to swap stories and advice on a huge range of topics, share photos, and connect with friends. You will create your own online page.

Learning to use a computer is fun. The computer can help bring ideas to life with words, pictures, color, and numbers. We will have hands-on activities to explore the many ways a computer can help you. Activities will include writing a story with friends, playing a game, creating cards, and other learning activities. Some activities could also be used for your “Computer Smarts Try-It” Badge. Parents are welcome to attend with Girl Scout or attend the Editing Digital Photos class in the room next door.

The computer is a great tool for doing school work and hobbies. Computers help you work faster and smarter. Knowing how to use a computer is essential in most jobs, now, and in the future. This badge will help you prepare. You will learn about Internet safety, computer illustration software, and how to use the computer to plan and design a slumber party/sleepover. The last class had so much fun they really wanted to do a sleep over in the computer lab. We’ll have fun while learning. Parents are welcome to attend with Girl Scout.
