About The CENTER

The Cove Educational Community Center, known as The CENTER, was built as a result of a Digital School District grant which was awarded to three Pennsylvania school districts.  The CENTER opened its doors to the public on October 15, 2002 during Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremonies.

The vision for The CENTER is to incorporate technology into everyday learning for students, as well as for the community.  In order to make the vision a reality, the following objectives guide The CENTER's operations:

  • Help close the digital divide within our community.
  • Provide courses in using specific software.
  • Be a resource to community members who have questions regarding technology.
  • Provide access to up-to-date technology for community members.
  • Provide technology training at an affordable cost.
  • Provide an access point for parents to access student grades.

Located adjacent to the Spring Cove Middle School at 185 Spring Cove Drive in Roaring Spring, The CENTER offers the following resources in a spacious, modern facility:

  • Handicap accessibility throughout.
  • Two computer labs (one laptop, one desktop) with digital projection systems and teacher monitoring capabilities.
  • A Briefing/Conference room with digital projector and laptop computer. (seats 15 plus presenter)
  • Teacher research and training area.
  • Graphic and video editing suite with production capabilities.
  • 574 seat auditorium with audio & video projection equipment.  Also includes additional lighting and sound capabilities.

Businesses, clubs, church groups and civic organizations may rent conference and training rooms for meetings, training sessions, conferences and a host of other functions.

A variety of computer courses are available at The CENTER during the year.  Check the Adult Education Course Listing for details.  If you have a suggestion for a course that you would like to see offered at The CENTER or if you would like additional information, call The CENTER at 224-7579 or email center@scsd.k12pen.com.
