Students will be re-introduced to topic such as: the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and Civil Rights, the three branches of government and their roles, voting, as well as other topics dealing with the United States Government. The economics section of the course will introduce the students to the world of finance and business, both on a micro and a macro level. Students will be introduced to such topics as: how the stock market works, supply and demand curves, personal finance, developing and running a business, as well as other topics. Starting in the 2008-2009 school year, Mr. Logan will be utlizing the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace for the Next Generation program in conjunction with his regular economics class. The FPNG program is an exciting and dynamic, true-to-life representation of the economic real world that students will be facing when they graduate from Central.
Each semester, Mr. Waite and myself take our POD/Economic and AP Government classes to New York City on a very educational and informative trip. The cost of the trip is covered by the students who choose to attend this trip.
