Program Description:
The purpose of the learning support program is to help develop the skills and techniques necessary for students to become responsible and independent learners in the regular educational setting. In addition, students enrolled in the learning support program will explore post-secondary schools and career opportunities in order to prepare for the transition period upon graduation.
Program Objectives:
Ø Develop skills that will enable success in the regular classroom setting.
Þ Evaluate self-generated goals on a periodic basis.
Þ Utilize the learning support classroom and instructor.
Þ Assume responsibility for all work.
Þ Develop organizational and time management skills.
Þ Improve note taking skills and study habits.
Ø Develop post-secondary plans and goals.
Þ Examine personal needs, strengths and interests.
Þ Participate in career and self-awareness activities.
Þ Develop an ethical and professional demeanor.
General Program Information:
Ø Students may report to the learning support classroom at any time (contingent on regular education teacher) to receive assistance with assignments, appropriate accommodations on examinations and/or guidance.
Ø The learning support instructor will be available during 1St & 2nd lunch periods for students seeking extra help. Please see Mrs. Kensinger (teacher assistant) for a pass for lunch. I encourage all students to schedule lunch sessions to study for upcoming quizzes and exams.
Ø The learning support instructor will be available after school form 2:35 to 3:05 for students interested in additional assistance with homework.
Ø Time spent in the learning support classroom will be productive. When regular classroom work is complete, you will be reinforced in the skills necessary to become successful in and out of school.
Ø The learning support instructor WILL NOT be responsible for any missed work. This includes (although not limited to): homework, class work, quizzes, tests & projects. The student will be expected to make arrangements with his/her teachers regarding missed work.
Ø The learning instructor will be in frequent contact with your regular classroom teachers and parents concerning your academic progress and behavior.

Always self- initiate work!
Ø Students will treat Mrs.Kensinger, peers and Mr. Grill with respect!
Þ Remain quiet and attentive when others are speaking.
Þ Utilize appropriate language at all times.
Ø Students will act in a mature and responsible manner.
Þ Raise your hand if you possess comments, questions, or need to leave your seat for any reason.
Þ Keep hands and feet to yourselves.
Ø Students will come prepared and on time.
Þ Arrive in the classroom prior to the bell.
Þ Bring all appropriate materials (pen or pencil, notebook, handouts, books, etc.) to class.
Ø Students will possess a hall pass if for any reason they must leave the classroom.
Always respect others when they’re taking an exam!
Please exercise good judgment and common sense when working in the LS classroom. If the above-mentioned expectations do not suffice in creating a positive environment the following action will be taken.
1. Warning.
2. Student/teacher conference after class.
3. Classroom detention.
4. Parent/teacher conference.
5. School detention.

1. Attendance: The 1st item potential employers will consider when you’re applying for a job. In addition, missing one day of block scheduling is equivalent to two regularly scheduled days. If you’re not here – I cannot help you!
