Ecstacy Information

  ECSTACY

What Teens Need to Know about this Extremely DANGEROUS & DEADLY Drug

What is Ecstacy?

Ecstacy  is a synthetic drug made in laboratories from dangerous chemicals.  Because many different “recipes” are used to make Ecstacy, the risk of death and permanent brain damage are heightened  when some substances are combined.  Ecstacy pills are often manufactured to imitate common prescription and non-prescription pills (Asprin).

Street Terms:

·        E, X, Hug Drug, Love Drug, Rolls, Adam, Eve, Beans, Mollies

·        “Go Rollin”  “We were Rollin over the Weekend”  -   Commom phrases used of ecstacy users

Physical Effects:

  1. Acts as a Stimulant
  2. Muscle cramping
  3. Blurred Vision/Rapid eye movement (laser lights popular at raves/parties because of this)
  4. Dehydration (users will drink lots of water to counteract this)
  5. Increased body temp.
  6. Teeth grinding (users will suck on pacifiers or lollipops to alleviate this)
  7. Anxiety
  8. Nausea
  9. Loss of sexual inhibitions, sex orgies
  10. Death due to heart failure/heat strokes (Death can result from taking one ecstacy pill:  A girl in State College died after only using Ecstacy once).
  11. Researchers have found that chronic use can lead to long-term or permanent damage to those parts of the brain critical to thought, memory, and pleasure.

Psychological Effects:

·        Euphoria (Serotonin in the brain is released in high levels that increases euphoric feeling)

·        Increased sense of well-being

·        Physical Touching (hugging & rubbing)

·        Increased social confidence

·        Anxiety & paranoia

·        Confusion

·        Sleep problems

·        Depression (due to increased output of serotonin, over time, serotonin depletion will result in depression
