What is HOBY?
HOBY stands for the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. HOBY is in its 46th year offering leadership seminars to outstanding sophomores across the country to help students learn how to think, not what to think. The theme of the seminar is "America's Incentive System and Leadership for Service, the Importance of Volunteering". HOBY is designed to prepare our country's high school sophomores to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, schools, workplace, and communities. Each year, one sophomore will be nominated to attend the HOBY Seminar to represent Central High School. Registration information is available in October.
Who should apply?
Any sophomore student who is self-motivated, has good communication skills, goal-minded, and excellent critical thinking skills. Applications are available in Mrs. Thompson's office in October.
How much does it cost to attend?
The registration fee is $150.00 to attend. The student nominated by CHS will be responsible for paying the fee at the time of registration.
