First Day Homework

Fifth Grade is in the Bag!

How did you do at remembering the meaning of the objects given to you in your bag?

1.  The bag, itself represents how we were getting it all together in fifth grade, and you have a great year "in the bag".

2.  The saftey pin is to show that sharp words, hurtful things will not be tolerated in fifth grade. I will always look out for your safety.

3.  The paper clips symbolize how in fifth grade there can be more than one way to get a job done or solve a problem.  Each paper clip is different, but they will all hold paper together.

4. The eraser was to show that everyone makes mistakes.

5.  The gum was to show how we need to  stick to whatever we try.  Try, try, and try again!

6.  The rock's symbolic meaning was that hard, rough times can be smoothed, with a little hard work and time.

7.  Smileys let's keep each other happy.

8.  The cottenball was to stand for my soft spot for students who try to do their best.

9.  The lifesaver was to remind you that I will be there for you if you need me.  Don't forget the spark!

10.  The penny was for your thoughts!  There is a lot thinking going to go on in fifth grade.  I want to hear about everything.

Hope you did well at remembering the meaning attached to the objects, and you were able to explain what we talked about in school today.

See you tomorrow!
